What Decides the Battery in a Nissan
A Patrol's engine bay runs hot and often carries accessories; a Sunny's battery has a much easier life but suffers from short-trip charging. We confirm the case size, terminal layout and cold-cranking rating from the battery fitted to the car rather than assuming a model takes one size for every year.

Sunny to Patrol, one badge and two jobs
A Sunny used for delivery work and a Patrol used for weekend trips put very different demands on a battery. The Sunny's problem is usually charge: constant short stops with no long run to top the battery back up. The Patrol's problem is usually heat and load: a big engine bay, accessories wired to permanent live, and long periods standing still.
The test is the same in both cases, but what it finds tends to be different.
What to send before we set off
The model, the year and a photo of the battery label do most of the work. If the car carries a second battery or anything aftermarket — a winch, a fridge, extra lighting — say so, because it changes both the diagnosis and what we need to carry.
If the engine cranks normally but will not fire, say that on the phone. It points somewhere other than the battery, and it is better to know before we arrive than after.
